OPEN LETTER TO MY MENTOR; ENGR OLUSEGUN ADEBAYO ONI

Over the last few weeks, there has been quite a bit of activity in regards to June 21 2014, politically speaking.
People that I had never heard of, others that I had heard of and others that give me shakes forming alliance and/or dumping one party for another; some politicians have had secret meetings and, just to prove that pigs do fly, you announced that you've dumped the People's Democratic Party for the APC.
I will not get into the nuts and bolts of these coalitions, meetings and announcements, but rather, I want to speak to my mentor on behalf of several others who share my views on this issue.
I was, (or should I say "we were") surprised to hear that our very own mentor; Engineer Olusegun Adebayo Oni has left PDP to pitch tent with APC.
Although I was disappointed you left, but I will not wholly dismiss your character and person because of it. The Segun Oni I know is thoughtful, intelligent, altruistic and extremely loyal.
I understand that Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria stated clearly that "Every person shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any other association for the protection of his interest". I also do clearly understand that the interpretation of this fundamental human right does not translate to the "freedom to form an alliance with a man who denied you the regards and privileges of being his predecessor in office" not until recently when he realise he needs your support in his re-election bid and started calling you "my egbon".
The defunct University of Science and Technology, Ifaki Ekiti, described as Ekiti State's scientific and technological breakthrough, would have been your administration's outstanding legacy, but your new found allies killed the healthy, living and vibrant "child".
There is no point hiding the fact that there are certain issues between members of PDP (Ekiti State Chapter), but a man of your integrity shouldn't leave the party for another. You ought to have stayed back and play your part in restoring unity amongst members of the party. That's the definition of who we take you for; A party leader...not a defection leader.
PDP will remain a strong political party. I am sure of it. Mis-reported informations and ideas may portray it as otherwise ( an unreliable and inaccurate means of judging political parties anyway, especially considering one trying really hard to promote unity and good governance, but I digress). However it will not change the objective of this great party.
If I were you, I will return to PDP, to protect my integrity and also the trust and believe my numerous supporters/ followers have in me. Am sure PDP will welcome you back in open arms.

                                                                      Sincerely Yours,

                                                                   Ayodeji A. Aladejana
